Spanish solid-state battery manufacturer Basquevolt has started the production of 20Ah cells capable of delivering an energy density of more than 450Wh/kg. Basquevolt is using its proprietary composite electrolyte developed over ten years.
The company that was assembling 1Ah cells only nine months before reaching this milestone says its new generation of batteries is capable of providing around 50 percent higher energy density than the highest quality Li-ion counterparts available on the market today.
Basquevolt’s next steps will revolve around finalizing the overall qualifications of the cells to ensure their safety compared to existing lithium-ion batteries. As soon as it completes the process of qualification testing, the company plans to start producing new batteries for electric passenger and commercial vehicles, renewable energy storage, and electronic devices.
