Northvolt Expands Voltpack Core Lineup With Two New Battery Packs

Swedish battery developer and manufacturer Northvolt has expanded its Voltpack Core portfolio with two new, compact-size 21 kW and 39 kW battery packs. Thanks to their smaller footprints and fully-integrated designs, these additions advance Northvolt’s capability to provide innovative, scalable, and high-performance battery system solutions that enable the electrification of industrial applications.

About Voltpack Core

Voltpack Core is an industrial-grade, high energy density lithium-ion battery pack designed to replace heavy diesel engines in the most demanding environments. An off-the-shelf, plug-and-play solution, Voltpack Core simplifies the path to industrial electrification for a range of applications, big or small.

Voltpack Core Family

The new models in the Voltpack Core portfolio come with smaller physical footprints, allowing for easy integration into various industrial applications. The compact design minimizes powertrain adjustments, streamlining the shift to electrification.

Voltpack Core battery packs provide the essential building blocks for electrifying vehicles and stationary industrial applications. With the range now extended from 21 kWh to 624 kWh (1000 V), Voltpack Core enables the electrification of everything from small material handling vehicles and lift trucks, to large excavators and mining machines.

With Voltpack Core, going electric has never been easier. Here’s how:

  • One competency covers everything from integration to assembly to operations, simplifying training and reducing complexity.
  • The same platform can electrify both 400 Vmax and 750 Vmax powertrains, making it adaptable for various applications across your fleet.
  • The flexible orientation of the packs allows for multiple configurations, eliminating mechanical integration bottlenecks.
  • Easy integration with our user-friendly BMS Software.

“We launched Voltpack Core in 2019 — it was Northvolt’s first generation of battery system. And as a battery pack to enable the electrification of large machines, it is a great product. It has a large capacity, is incredibly robust and it’s performed very well in the field. But as we’ve continued to gain experience and engage with the market, we’ve learnt more about the needs of customers. It became clear that there was demand for a smaller Voltpack Core — something that still offered great volumetric energy, but came with a smaller, lighter physical footprint. That’s what has led to the new, 21 and 39 kWh additions to the Voltpack Core range, which really expand the scope of vehicle applications we can support, down to that smaller and mid-size area.”
